- Countryside views, including the Chilterns, define village character
- Residents value peaceful, wildlife-rich walks and seasonal change
- Concerns include access, footpath maintenance, livestock, traffic safety, housing growth, wildlife loss, litter, flooding and reduced countryside access
- Strong support for biodiversity, linked green spaces and Local Green Space designation
Housing Needs survey – Key Findings
- Ongoing housing demand, 15% of respondent’s having an immediate need
- Support for new homes for local people, particularly affordable housing
- Preference for smaller, accessible homes (one to two bedrooms, including bungalows)
- A balanced mix of affordable and market housing is needed, with an emphasis on smaller homes
What happens next
- Business, transport and infrastructure survey in the coming weeks
- Feedback from younger residents via local schools
- A further survey to confirm interpretation of results
- Policy drafting, further consultation, submission to Central Bedfordshire Council, independent examination and a referendum requiring over 50% approval
