Creating the Neighbourhood Plan requires input for the community. The following consultations are, or have, occurred – thanks for responding to all the following events. Below are details of all the consultations and where the outcome of that consultation can be found.
There are a number of questions/issues raised through all these consultations that are not necessarily within the scope of the Neighbourhood Plan scope, so we have provided some feedback on those issues. We have also added a page for common Acronyms and Planning Terms.
Have your say – CBC Call for Sites
Central Bedfordshire Council has issued a consultation on sites submitted for development. There are many sites in and surrounding Toddington. If all were approved, although unlikely, this could double the size of Toddington and will significantly increase the development around the motorway junction.
The Central Beds consultation is on-line, but Toddington Parish Council and the Toddington Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group held a joint meeting with parishioners to ensure the community expresses it views. There were two presentations on Wednesday 29th July in the Wilkinson Hall, behind St George’s Church. One presentation starting at 5:30pm and a second (same presentation) at 7:00pm.

At the sessions, there was a request to have some face-to-face sessions to guide folk through responding. These have been scheduled for:

Over the last year that the Neighbourhood Steering Group has been seeking views, the most clear feedback from the community is to limit future development. It is not expected that all the submitted sites across Central Beds would be agreed, but we need to make our views known in this consultation. The CBC Local Plan takes precedence over the Toddington Neighbourhood Plan, it is therefore important that as many parishioners are possible make their views directly to Central Bedfordshire via the Central Beds consultation by 17 August 2026.

Consultation on the “Aims” of the Neighbourhood Plan
The Steering Group have drafted a “Vision” and “Aims” of the Neighbourhood Plan. A consultation on these was launched in June 2026. Details were published in the June Village Magazine. A drop in session occurred in the Village Hall on Saturday 6th June between 10:00 and 15:00. The outcome of the consultation showed overwhelming support, the full details can be found on the Community Engagement page.
Youth Survey
Engaging with young people in the village is difficult. We are grateful for the assistance of Parkfields School who have run engagement sessions and generated an extremely insightful report giving the views of young people. See Social, Education and Wellbeing page.
Business Survey
The business survey was launched in Feb 2026 and closed in March 2026. The survey was delivered to all the businesses identified in Toddington parish, it was highlighted in the village magazine. The conclusions are summarised and published on the Economy and Infrastructure page
Green Infrastructure
A drop in session was held at the Village Hall in November 2025. The results of this have been incorporated into a Draft Green Infrastructure Plan. More details and the June 2026 final report on the Green Infrastructure page
Housing Survey
The housing survey was launched in Oct 2025 with a closing date of 8th Nov 2025. The survey was run independently by BRCC. More details and the report were published in April 2026 on the Housing page.
Launch Consultation
We launched our engagement at some drop in sessions in June & July 2025 at the Wilkinson Hall. In the summer of 2025 we also had a stand at the Fete on the green and the football event at the Luton Road recreation ground. At all these events we received lots of comments. Engagement with Clubs and Societies
Since spring 2025 the Steering Group have engaged with many of the organisations within the village, all these comments have fed into the development of the Neighbourhood Plan. If your group has further views them please let us know or ask to meet to discuss. Contact
